Bell Book and Candle

by John van Druten

This production was developed at Triad Stage in Greensboro, NC.

A wonderfully "Bewitched" romantic comedy set in New York City in the 1950s. It is a script about love, witches, and interracial relationships. Gillian Holroyd casts a spell on her upstairs neighbor, Shep, to keep him from marrying her college rival. Little did she know that she would fall in love with him. That love costs her everything she knows, including her magical powers.

As the sound designer for this production I provided not only made the phone ring and an intercom work but also provided the "magic" and helped create the transitions.

A Little Magic

The small moment of magic in the show like making Shep's phone go on the fritz

A Lot of Magic

For the major magical moment

Transition Music

This is a look at several of the transitions. The transition music follows the general emotion of the moment. It starts off happy at Christmas and moved to a more somber music as she finds herself alone and powerless. Then at the end we are back to happier music when Shep returns and they fall in love again, without the magic.
